Welcome to our timber framing workshops, where our mission is to deliver top-tier instruction in timber framing techniques at an accessible price point. Led by seasoned instructors Jim Rogers and Dan Flinn, our hands-on workshops delve into the art and science of timber framing, covering essential skills using square rule layout, plan reading,  mortise and tenon joinery, fit-up, and raising.

While our primary focus remains on square rule methodology, our curriculum also encompasses valuable insights into snap line square rule, scribing techniques, and mill rule practices. Jim and Dan bring a wealth of expertise to the table, drawing from their extensive experience in both traditional timber framing and modern production methods. Expect to gain not only a solid foundation in the fundamentals but also insider tips and tricks gleaned from their years in the field.

Our workshops typically span six days, providing ample time for hands-on learning and collaboration with fellow enthusiasts. To fuel your journey, we include home cooked lunch each day, ensuring you can stay focused and energized throughout the intensive training (some say this is the best part of the workshop!).

We'll discuss sharpening tools,  milling your own timbers (sawmill demo's if the class so desires), timber frame design,  and insulation techniques.  Dan attended a lumber graders course, so he'll have a wealth of information to share on that topic!
